Notes for Members
GETTING TOGETHER
THE CLUB’S Annual dinner and get together for members and their significant others etc. will take place on Friday 26th March at the Palatine Bar and Restaurant, 359 Palatine Road, Northenden M22 4ET. Starting with a get-together in the bar around 7.30 pm and eating an hour or so later. The Palatine, which is on the main road through Northenden (It’s almost opposite where Woolworths used to be, for those who know Northenden) offers Indian, Italian and English cooking, so there should be something for all tastes. Please let Tony Tomlinson, Dave Hardy or Nigel Grayson know if you are coming and how many places you want, but do not worry if you can only make a decision at the last minute, turn up anyway, it should be a good night.
Table Sale 2010
The Cheshire Plain Fliers Table Sale will take place on Wednesday April 14th 2010 at the Bowdon Rugby Club, Clay Lane Timperley. Doors will be open at 7pm for sellers and 7.30 for buyers, but club members are asked to turn up as soon after 6pm as possible to help set up the room. Members also get free selling space so please have a model room clear out and bring whatever you can to sell, even if it is only one or two things. Raffle prizes will also be most welcome as this often raises almost as much as the entrance fees. Entrance fee for non-members is £1 for buyers and tables are £3 each.
The club subs for 2010 are being held at 2009’s level of £10 for seniors, £5 for juniors with a one-off £20 joining fee. All renewals should be by February 1st otherwise you may be liable to pay the joining fee again.
SAME OLD FACES
The AGM has refused all pleas for parole and re-elected the 2009 committee yet again. They are: Chairman, Tony Tomlinson; Vice-chairman Jeff Box; Secretary, Dave Hardy; Treasurer, Reg Taylor; Competition Secretary, Nigel Grayson; Safety Officer, Mark Armstrong.
COMPETITIONS 2010
Yet another plea from the comp sec
At the AGM it was suggested that club competitions should be suspended because of lack of interest and entries. However the general feeling was that members wanted the comps to continue. So please enter our comps if you possibly can, they are all quite easy for the very ordinary club flyer (like the comp sec) and you might even enjoy them. All of the Fly for Fun events can be flown with your everyday model and none of the competitions are model-wreckers.They might even improve your flying. Such events as the thermal soaring can be flown by taking the prop off an electric glider and fitting a towhook.
Comp diary dates
Please keep these for future reference
FLY FOR FUN: The first Sunday in the month from February to November (If unable to fly for any reason, comp is deferred for a week, if not possible to fly then that round is cancelled. (Please note that a comp does not prevent non-competing members flying on that day. They can fly before and after the comp, and, providing they do not interfere with comp flights, during the proceedings)
THERMAL GLIDER: Tuesday May 11 7pm. Bungee or winch will be provided for launching. This comp is being held in the evening to take advantage of the lighter winds usually present at that time. In case of bad weather, comp will be deferred to following Thursday.
ELECTRIC GLIDER (All Up Last Down): Tuesday 15 June 7pm. To recognise that some members have gone all-LiPo and do not own any Nicad or Nimh batteries, the rules are being amended. Unlimited nicad or nimh cells will still be permitted but LiPo cells will now also be permittedLIMITED to 1600mah 3S or 2300 2S packs. In case of bad weather, comp will be deferred to following Thursday
SLOPE SOARING COMP: Date To Be Arranged. We have always had trouble in getting entrants for this comp. Will all those interested in competing please get in touch with Comp Sec Nigel Grayson.
SEVEN-CELL ELECTRIC DURATION is open from January 1st to November 1st. It is the longest flight made using no more than seven nicad or nimh cells. It must be made from the Ridgeway Road field and independently timed by another CPF member who is also responsible for checking that the battery pack complies with the rules after the flight.
