JOINING US
We welcome new members. If you can already fly then come down to see us and bring a model (electric of course) with your BMFA membership and insurance certificates. You may only fly accompanied and supervised by an experienced member of the club until we are satisfied that you can fly safely and understand the local rules (no-fly zones etc).
GETTING STARTED
. If you are a novice, but have bought your own radio, model etc, bring it down with you and we will check it out for you, test fly it and if everything is satisfactory help you to take to the sky under strict supervision, its not as easy as you think.
If you are interested in learning to fly then PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do NOT buy any equipment before talking to us. Come down and see what we are doing, see what we are flying and discuss what you want to fly, whether you are especially interested in powered gliders, aerobatics or scale models and whether you intend to by Almost Ready To Fly models or to build your own from plans or kits.
Whatever you intend to do or whatever your budget, the club can offer honest, unbiased advice based on the many years of experience that members collectively possess and mixed with a considerable level of technical expertise. You may get three opinions on any model flying matter from club members, but they will all be worth listening to!
